Firefighters quick to stop grass fire caused by fireworks from spreading to homes in West Jordan

WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC4 News) – Firefighters were quick to respond to a grass fire that was started by fireworks near a residential neighborhood in West Jordan Sunday night.

West Jordan Fire Department Battalion Chief Clint Paxton said calls came into dispatch at about 10:24 p.m. of a fire on the north side of 7800 South just east of Bacchus Highway.

Utah’s 4th of July fireworks planned during 2020 pandemic

Utah (ABC4 News) – The 4th of July is usually a favorite summer holiday where Americans gather together to celebrate our freedom. Firework displays, pool parties, BBQ’s and neighborhood gatherings are usually ingredients for the perfect Independence Day bash.

This year’s 4th is already looking different due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many of Utah’s major firework shows have already been canceled.

We know Utahns will still be looking for ways to celebrate so we created this list of 4th of July celebrations that have taken on a coronavirus twist.

Interactive map shows where you can legally set off fireworks in Salt Lake County

If you plan on setting off fireworks in Salt Lake County this summer — a detailed interactive map from Unified Fire Authority shows where you can legally do so.

The map is the result of 2018’s House Bill 38, which “amended and clarified” when and where Utahns can set off fireworks.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – Summer months in Utah brings families together for fun, food, and celebrations. Two holidays known for bringing people together are quickly approaching.

The Fourth of July and Pioneer Day (July 24th), both are synonymous with Utahn’s engaging in setting off fireworks. The Utah Fire Marshal’s office has released information for this year’s festivities and guidelines on fireworks sales, discharge dates, and restricted areas for lighting fireworks.

Officials urge the public to make safety their first priority this 4th of July holiday.
